How to use the cabinet cut list
This calculator turns the selected cabinet template, finished cabinet dimensions, board thickness and material options into a panel schedule. Use it for estimating and workshop checking before sheets are optimized. Cabinet type matters: the program applies different template rules to base, wall, tall, corner, sink, drawer and appliance units, so confirm that the chosen template matches the way the cabinet will actually be assembled.
Key dimensions
- For a standard carcass, inner width = cabinet width − 2 × board thickness.
- Panel length and width are finished cut sizes; edging columns identify the nominated edges, not extra material to add to a dimension.
- Door and drawer clearances are template allowances. Hardware brands, hinge overlays, runners and reveal preferences can require different deductions.
- Board area is not a sheet-optimization result and excludes kerf, grain matching, defects and offcut layout.
Verified worked example
For the default 900 × 770 × 550 mm standard base cabinet in 16 mm board, inner width is 900 − 2 × 16 = 868 mm. The calculator produces a bottom panel of 868 × 550 mm, two side panels of 770 × 550 mm, and two doors of 764 × 444 mm. Those values agree with the compiled template.
Workshop checks and limitations
Measure actual appliances, sinks, plumbing, walls, floors and worktops before cutting. Confirm back-panel grooves, hinge-cup setbacks, runner clearances, edge-band thickness, scribes, fillers, toe-kick construction and fixing rails against the chosen hardware supplier’s technical sheet. Test-fit one cabinet or a scrap-board joint before batch cutting. Large cabinets and wall units must be adequately braced and anchored to suitable structure; obtain professional design advice where loading, stability or building compliance is uncertain.
